Asheville also serves as a hub for a lot of additional activity in the Western North Carolina (WNC) region.  Feel free to contribute information about WNC to this wiki also.

Asheville is a city in and the county seat of Buncombe County, North Carolina. As of the 2010 census, the population was 238,318. The official Asheville metropolitan area is comprised of Buncombe County and three of it's surrounding Counties, Haywood County (East), Madison County (North), and Transylvania County (South). However, as the majority of Western North Carolina (WNC) is rural, Buncombe County, and specifically Asheville, functions as an economic hub for many neighboring or close-by counties.
