Andrew RootAndrew Root, the son of Kathy Root and the late Anacortes City Councilman Ben Root, is the author of several works of children's literature, including Hamsters Don't Fight Fires (2017) and Nerdycorn (2021)  Andrew is a trained therapist, active in community mental health and the public education system in Portland, Oregon. Andrew works as the clinical manager of a therapeutic school serving youth and adolescents with a variety of behavioral and mental health needs. Andrew lives in Portland with his wife (also from Anacortes) and their two children; his mother still lives in Old Town Anacortes.
