Paul G. Tessmer built the U. of M. Boat House in 1898 on Argo Pond. He had 160 canoes and 40 rowboats for rent as of 1906.
His family home on Sunset is now the Elks Pratt Lodge.

The Superior and Ann Arbor Fractional District No. 2 Schoolhouse (Dixboro School) was designed and built by Paul Tessmer, a mason contractor from Ann Arbor, in 1888 to replace a frame schoolhouse built in 1826 when Dixboro was platted.
