The Firehouse is a craft cocktail bar (the lounge) with an upstairs hostel on floors 2–4.  The lounge is notable for having an entrance behind a sliding bookcase at the front desk in addition to the entrance that opens out onto the street.

The Firehouse is located right in the middle of 6th Street on Brazos, across from the Driskill Hotel, in an unassuming building that's really a converted firestation.

Lounge

The bar serves cocktails and a few food items.

The Firehouse also does pub crawls.  The groups are led by Mike and usually consist of (typically international) travelers who are staying as guests at the hostel upstairs, but they are open to the public.  The crawls usually focus on a particular area for the night, such as Dirty 6th, East 6th, or Red River.

Hostel

The hostel has mixed dorms as well as male- and female-only rooms, with varying number of beds per room, including a few private suites.  Guests in shared rooms use the shared bathrooms; there are 1 male and 1 female bathrooms on the second and third floors each.

There are coin-operated laundry machines at the end of the hall on the third floor.

There is a common area with a fridge, sink, and some appliances (e.g., toaster, griddle) on the second floor where breakfast is served in the morning, included as part of accommodation.  Throughout the rest of the day and into the night, the kitchen serves as a gathering spot, rendezvous point, and otherwise hangout area for hostel guests until it's locked in the small hours of the morning, well after last call throughout the rest of Austin.

Given that The Firehouse is located off 6th Street, some guests may find the street noises a bit of a bother, especially on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.

The upstairs area is for hostel guests only and outside visitors are not allowed.

Management

The Firehouse is run by Kent and Marianna.  The bar manager is Matt.
