Rainey Street is nestled between the bend in Town Lake and I-35.  It was formerly a residential area that has been rezoned for business use.  It now contains many bars, many of them converted bungalows.

There is a private parking lot at the north end of Rainey open for public use on a for-pay basis.  There's another lot in front of the Mexican-American Cultural Center, accessible from the the south end of the Rainey "drag" (east of the roundabout) with city meters.
