Table Rock is a butte located just northeast of downtown Boise. It is a part of the Boise foothills and provides hiking and biking trails up to a great view of the Boise Valley. There is an illuminated cross on the top of the hill.
There is also a trail to the Table Rock Quarry that takes off from the main Table Rock trail. Look for it on the right right before you start the steep climb to the top. Once on top you can see where they quarried the rocks to build the prison and the state capitol building.
In the hills nearby is Castle Rock Reserve, both the Table Rock and Castle Rock areas were once used as meeting places and burial grounds for the Shoshone-Bannock tribes. These places still hold spiritual significance for the descendants of the tribes and much work has been done to keep them preserved.
