The Cincinnati Police Federal Credit Union began in1935, serving Cincinnati Police Communities and their family members. Irvin Specht was instrumental with the growth of the credit union in the early years. Irvin Specht worked in the property room of the Cincinnati Police Department. It was at this location, that members would deposit their funds and make loans (for guns), all from a cigar box. Irvin Specht encouraged officers to open savings accounts and managed their long term financial needs through the credit union.

The Cincinnati Police Credit Union has evolved today as a full service financial institution; with its broadened savings products, variety of loans, and full range of special services for our members. The credit union is still a not-for-profit financial institution owned and operated by its members. Our mission has always been to fulfill our member's financial needs. Through the hard work, and dedication and perseverance of our employees and our members, the credit union continues to provide services and products that exceed our member's expectations.

The Cincinnati Police Credit Union has grown to nearly 100 million in assets, serving more than 9,000 members. The credit union currently has 2 branch locations, the Queensgate office and our Colerain/Northwest Branch. COPFCU is also a part of a national network of credit unions working together to offer members the ability to conduct basic teller transactions at more than 4,000 credit unions branches (Shared Branching) throughout the United States.

With over 75 years of progress, our membership has also expanded to include: All state and local government employees in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana which means we can now serve all regional Police and Fire Departments and Public Educators. COPFCU continues to build on our solid foundation of success to provide the best products and services to our members. Our Board of Directors and staff are committed to offering the best personal service possible.
