There is a large bust of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in the northwest corner of Veteran's Memorial Park. It was crafted in bronze by William Couper. Longfellow was a renowned poet, and the bust was accordingly placed near the Grand Rapids Public Library's Main Library. Any other connection between the writer and Grand Rapids is limited or nonexistent.
