Tommy Allen moved from his hometown of Flint, Michigan to Grand Rapids in 1981 to attend college.
After completing his degree at Calvin College, he exhibited his photo-based works of art in various galleries, coffee shops and even a salon.
After recovering from a near fatal auto accident, he accepted the newly created lifestyle editor position with Rapid Growth Media and launched a weekly editorial and events column called G-Sync.
The G-Sync editorial column runs the gamut from the light-hearted (see photo of Tommy & Rev. Charles Smith of the Potatoebabies) to the serious as Allen writes about a city and region of Michigan in transition.
Allen is a member of the the Tanglefoot Studio at the historic Tanglefoot Building. Recently, Tanglefoot Studio created a new gallery brand, the Allen + Pfleghaar Studio at Tanglefoot with artist Michael Pfleghaar.
