<div> </div> <div>  </div> <div> With roughly 30,000 different works of art, the Milwaukee Art Museum is home to one of the</div> <div> largest collections of art in the world today. The Art Museum is located in the heart of downtown,</div> <div> Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and overlooks Lake Michigan. Locals of Milwaukee often refer to their art</div> <div> museum as the "Calatrava", named after Santiago Calatrava. </div> <div>  </div> <div> Santiago Calatrava is a famous spanish arhictect, engineer, and sculptor who is famous for </div> <div> mimicking life and nature in his designs. The Milwaukee Art Museum was one of his first </div> <div> projects completed in the United States. For more information and work done by Santiago </div> <div> Calatrava, see "useful links" below. </div> <div>  </div> <div> On December 10th, 1997, the Milwaukee Art Museum underwent major reconstruction, designed </div> <div> by Calatrava himself. "The Spanish architect was inspired by the “dramatic, original building by</div> <div> Eero Saarinen...the topography of the city” and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie-style architecture.</div> <div> The 142,050-square-foot structure was completed in 2001 and houses a grand reception hall,</div> <div> an auditorium, a large exhibition space, a store, two cafés, and parking. Both cutting-edge technology</div> <div> and old-world craftsmanship went into creating the graceful building, which was made largely by</div> <div> pouring concrete into one-of-a-kind wooden forms" (MAM 1). </div> <div>  </div> <div> The museum holds a variety of art, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, video art, prints,</div> <div> drawings, decorative art, historical art, and art from the 18th and 19th century. </div> <div>  </div> <div> Today, locals and visitors can marvel at the design and beauty of the Milwaukee Art Museum. The </div> <div> building itself is a work of art, a symbol of the future and innovation. Some say that the entrance of the </div> <div> museum feels like you "are entering a whales mouth". The wings seen in the images above also open and close, </div> <div> an exciting feature to witness. </div> <div>  </div> <div>  </div> <div>  </div> <div> Useful Links:</div> <div> Milwaukee Art Museum Home Page: https://mam.org/</div> <div> Milwaukee Art Museum Exhibitions: https://mam.org/exhibitions/</div> <div> <font face="monospace">Encyclopedia of Milwaukee: </font>https://emke.uwm.edu/entry/milwaukee-art-museum/</div> <div> Visit and Travel to Milwaukee: https://www.visitmilwaukee.org/</div> <div> Santiago Calatrava  Website: https://www.calatrava.com/</div> <div> Santiago Calatrava Bio: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santiago_Calatrava</div> <div>  </div> <div> References: </div> <div> https://mam.org/info/history.php</div> <div> https://www.britannica.com/topic/Milwaukee-Art-Museum</div> <div>  </div> <div>  </div>
