Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States, is an Oakland native, born in the old Kaiser Hospital  (now demolished) at the northeast corner of Broadway and West MacArthur Boulevard. Although she makes much of her Oakland heritage, she actually grew up in Berkeley.1
