The We Got Your Back mural featured San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, and refers to his 2016 national anthem protest against oppression of black people and people of color. Support for Kaepernick's protest was strong in Oakland, and became stronger when he visited the Castlemont High School football team to support their protest. 1
The mural was on Telegraph Avenue on the site of the former Who Loves you Baby? mural.
