Kiwanis Family Park

Overview 

Kiwanis Family Park is a large park with a playground,  fitness trail, a large field, two creeks, several trails, a greenway, a gazebo, and picnic area. The park is located at  1800 Wicker Street, Sanford, N.C. 

Kiwanis Family Park's large field offers plenty of space to play.

Facilities 

The park's "Kiwanis Park Shelter" is available for free use. The shelter has 10 picnic tables that seat 100 people. Renters can request added accommodations such as water, electricity, and a charcoal grill for a fee.  There are bathrooms located beside the playground and shelter.

Creeks  

Kiwanis Family Park has two rivers that run through the park. Skunk Creek runs alongside the park's greenway. There are several small bridges that cross over the river and a deck that gives you a view of the creek. The second creek is called Persimmon Creek. The two creeks flow into each other and become Big Buffalo Creek.

Skunk Creek gently flows alongside the trail.

Playground 

The playground comes with a slide, swings, and a geodesic dome.

Fitness trail  

The fitness trail comes with calisthenics equipment. There are large monkey bars, pull up bars, a balancing beam, a ladder climb, and round steps. The equipment is surrounded by an oval trail for running laps.

Greenway and trails

The majority of the trails at Kiwanis Family Park are fine gravel trails. The gravel trails loop and runs all over the park. The Endor Iron Furnace Greenway starts at wicker street, goes through Kiwanis Family Park, goes around Riverbirch Shopping Center, and ends a little after crossing Spring Lane. The greenway is 1.4 miles
