The ISMAIK center in Dare has all the good components of a good retreat: A 45-min exciting mountain drive, good food served 5x a day, a peaceful setting with a great view of Dili, but away from the Dili heat. There's also a chapel for the spiritually-inclined. In order to be self-sustaining, the place (run by Mana Lou,recipient of several peace awards due to her east-west Timor reconciliation efforts), grows its own greens, flowers and plants for sale.
