General About the Organization/Mission

From the website, "ASAP’s mission is to help local farms thrive, link farmers to markets and supporters, and build healthy communities through connections to local food."  The organization carries out its mission by creating partnerships and connections between farmers and markets.  Much of the work that ASAP engages in facilitates direct sales between buyers and farmers or assists in the creation of new markets which are more easily accessible to the regions farmers.  The organization also aids in the marketing of local foods through the use of its "Appalachian Grown" certification program.

ASAP operate the Asheville City Market and convenes the Mountain Tailgate Market Association, a collaborative of markets within Western North Carolina.   In addition to its work in creating market opportunities, ASAP also assist farmers with educational resources including the annual Business of Farming Conference.
